VALLEJO, Calif. — A busy week of basketball commences for Cal Maritime Wednesday evening when it heads to Simpson for the first Cal Pac road game of the season. A stretch of action that includes three games within six days continues Saturday, inside PEAC Main Gym, against Stanton and Monday with a home tilt vs. Northwest Indian College, women's basketball's final non-conference game on campus this year.

Is the third time the charm? After facing Simpson in October's 2025-26 home opener and again in Redding three weeks later, designated non-conference games won by the Red Hawks, the Keelhaulers would love nothing more than to earn a win in an effort to split the four-game season series.

The Red Hawks will visit Vallejo on February 21 in the final game of the regular season.

Both teams will face one another with momentum: Cal Maritime will head to the James M. Grant Center off an impressive performance against Pacific Union last weekend and the Red Hawks won three of their four games played in 2026 and three of four played on their home floor this season.

This matchup will feature a handful of matchups at key positions, a list that includes Jessica Huffhines and Moriah Bowles, two of the Cal Pac's top three shooters from behind the arc. Huffhines leads the league with her .393 shooting percentage from three with Bowles ranked third (.341 3FG pct.)

Keep an eye Cal Maritime's Tamana Sharifi and Carina Nguyen in the paint all night ling because the former is ranked No. 3 in rebounding, averaging 9.8 per game, and the latter is ranked right behind her at 8.4 rpg.

When the Keelhaulers return home from Redding, they will have two day s to prep for Saturday afternoon's 2 p.m. home tilt against Stanton, a team they defeated in both games scheduled last season and earlier this year when the two squared off right before the holiday break at the HIU Holiday Classic, hosted by Hope International.

In that tournament contest, the Elks only scored 40 points against a Cal Maritime defense that forced 23 turnovers and limited them to .217 shooting overall and .261 from three. Led by Sharifi's 19 points and 16 rebounds, both career highs, four Keelhaulers scored double figures.

Emily Newton ended with 14 points by hitting 4 of 5 field goals from three, Suraya Lloyd posted 12 points and Aysia Santon added another 11.

Northwest Indian College, a school based in Bellingham, Washington, will visit campus for the final game of the week, Monday night's matchup that is the final home non-conference game of the season and inaugural head-to-head meeting in program history.
