Women's basketball sweeps season series vs. Stanton with OT win
CYPRESS, Calif. - Cal Maritime won its third game in a row, creating a win streak of this length for the second time in as many seasons, by defeating Stanton, 73-70, in Saturday's Cal Pac Conference game. With this result, the Keelhaulers swept all three-head-to-head game against the Elks this season.
Tamana Sharifi led the Keelhaulers with 20 points and Aysia Santos finished with 19; the latter scored eight of those points in overtime and was singlehandedly responsible for all but four of her team's points in that extra session.
Women's basketball stepped up in crunch time: Not only did its offense catch fire during the most important five minutes of the night, in all six trips to the line — Santos took four free throws and Jessica Huffhines took the other two — the Keelhaulers calmly took care of business and earned a valuable point on each occasion.
In addition to a stats file that contains specific and official team and player statistics, live stats and a video stream of Cal Maritime's January 31 basketball doubleheader at Stanton were also unavailable, per Stanton Athletics officials. GoKeelhaulers.com will provide official stats once received.
Since Stanton does not have its own facility, this game was played at nearby Cypress College. An internet signal is needed to take official game stats, which provided information for live stats, using the Cal Pac-mandated Presto Stats program.
Home teams are responsible for providing internet video streams and live stats.
