Cal Maritime splits weekend games at Simpson

REDDING, Calif. – Just over 24 hours after starting the weekend with a win over Pacific Union, Jessica Huffhines scored a career-high 18 points by shooting 6-for-9 overall, 4-for-5 from three and a perfect 2-for-2 at the free throw line to lead the Keelhaulers' offense in Saturday's game at the James M. Grant Center.

Even though Cal Maritime outrebounded the Red Hawks, 32-29, led by Tamana Sharifi's career-high 13 — the third time in the last four games and fifth time this season she recorded 10 or more rebounds in a game — it could not erase an early 11-point deficit in a game Simpson won by a 70-50 score.

By hitting 8 of 15 shots, Suraya Lloyd finished with a career-high 16 points, matching her output recorded at home last January versus Stanton.

After splitting its pair of games this past weekend in Redding, women's basketball will play its next game at home after competing on the road in its last four contests when Northwest University visits PEAC Main Gym on Saturday, November 22. The Keelhaulers' final home game of 2025 will begin at 6 p.m.
