VALLEJO, Calif. –
Victorious in its first four games of the season, this year's team and the 2017-18 squad share the program record for the best start to a season. When the Keelhaulers head to Redding for a pair of neutral-site games hosted by Simpson, a chance to stand alone for the best all-time start to a season is at stake and withing grasp for a team currently in the middle of an eight-game road swing.

Standing between Cal Maritime and its shot at making history is Corban, a team that won six of the eight games played between the two, including the last head-to-head meeting on November 2, 2018, in a neutral game played at Multnomah.

Entering the weekend, the Keelhaulers already accomplished a program first by winning Cal Pac Player of the Week awards three consecutive weeks. Not only has Cal Maritime won every Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Award presented by the conference so far, this season's total matches the number won by men's basketball in the preceding 10 seasons combined.

The Keelhaulers will head to Redding as the Cal Pac Conference's top offense, averaging 86.5 points per game, nearly six full points more than the next ranked team. That is one of numerous top rankings the team currently possesses as it leads the league in field goal percentage (.507), defensive rebounds (34.0 per game), total rebounds (44.0/gm.), assists (19.8/gm.) and blocks (3.5/gm.).

Cal Maritime's defense is forcing opponents to shoot .410 overall and .279 from three, both league-low shooting percentages.

Corban enters the weekend with losses in its last two games, both played on the road at The Master's University and Life Pacific last weekend. After facing Cal Pac competition throughout the upcoming weekend, the Warriors will face Simpson 24 hours after tipping-off against Cal Maritime, before hosting Northwest Indian College in the final game before the start of Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

Bushnell, another CCC team, will square off against the Keelhaulers in Sunday afternoon's weekend finale before both teams head home for lengthy waits until their next official game.

The Beacons will not resume its schedule until well after the Thanksgiving break when it heads to Corbin on December 2; even though Cal Maritime has two exhibition games at Jessup and Stanislaus State taking place on November 26 and 29, its next official game is slated for December 4 in a return trip to Redding to take on Simpson.

Just like Corban, Bushnell will arrive to Northern California after losing last week's games at Park Gilbert and Arizona Christian. This weekend's games are part of an eight-game road swing that started after a home win vs. Linfield on November 8; the team's next home game will not take place until the January 2.

Cal Maritime holds a perfect 4-0 record against the Beacons and last face them on December 12, 2021.
