REDDING, Calif. – Cal Maritime opened Friday's non-conference game inside the James. M. Grant Center in Redding by outscoring Corbin by eight points in the first half by shooting 46 percent from the floor. Once the second half started, Cal Maritime continued to connect from all over the floor as it connected on 15 of 26 attempts (.577 pct.) and 6 of 10 (.600 pct.) from three.
Corbin ended up with a plus-17 rebound margin compared to the Keelhaulers and ended the night with 23 second chance points versus Cal Maritime's seven, and that was the difference in a game the Warriors won, 80-77.
With the loss, the 2025-26 squad will enter the program's records book tied with the 2017-18 roster for the best start to a season in program history by starting the year with five consecutive victories.
Cal Maritime did a phenomenal job protecting the ball all night long as it only committed nine turnovers.
Nick Stone finished with a team-high 17 points, Jordan Morency scored 14 and Lawrence Long added another 13 as the trio was responsible for 18 of their team's 30 field goals.
Cal Maritime will have an opportunity to start another win streak tomorrow afternoon when it faces the Bushnell Beacons in a 3 p.m. game hosted by Simpson University.
