FULLERTON, Calif. – In the second half, Cal Maritime outscored Hope International by six points; the teams posted 15 points each in the third quarter with the Keelhaulers outscoring the HIU Holiday Classic host, 27-21 in the fourth.
In the game's final 10 minutes, Cal Maritime shot 61 percent by connecting on 11 of 18 attempts overall and 2 of 5 from three.
Led by Suraya Lloyd and Aysia Santos with 13 apiece, four players finished in double figures in a game the Royals won, 77-60.
After scoring 14 points in yesterday's victory versus Stanton, Emily Newton nearly matched that total by finishing with 12 in her team's final game of 2025. Jessica Huffhines notched her second double-figure scoring effort of the year by recording 11.
After a slow start that saw the Royals take a 25-14 lead after one quarter, the hosts held the Keelhaulers to four points in the second quarter and outscored them by 12.
Even though Cal Maritime battled back, that halftime deficit was too large to overcome as it will head back to Vallejo with a split of action that took place in Fullerton.
Off for the holidays, women's basketball will return to action on January 10 at home against UC Santa Cruz.
