• Intercollegiate athletics teams will continue to wear blue and gold for the year, maintain the Keelhaulers name and use the same logo as last year.

VALLEJO, Calif. — After weeks of battling one another in practice, Cal Maritime will face its first opponents of the regular season this week when it travels to Angwin for Thursday's 6 p.m. season opener against Pacific Union before hosting Simpson in the first home game of the year the following night at 5:30 p.m.
Even though both opponents are California Pacific Conference institutions, each matchup is a designated non-conference game.
The Keelhaulers are wasting no time prepping for official action since their first official game of the season is against their local rivals. Including their last matchup, one that took place on Cal Maritime's Senior Night and ultimately became a Keelhauler forfeit win since the Pioneers competed with ineligible players, women's basketball won the last seven head-to-head games, including the last four inside Covered Wagon.
A Cal Maritime roster that features seven newcomers and four returners — Suraya Lloyd, Emily Newton, Aysia Santos and Alanis Sulivan — are eager to break a different streak owned by Simpson, the victor in the last nine games between these programs.
Friday's game is one of two opportunities basketball fans can watch the Keelhaulers compete inside of PEAC Main Gym, the other will take place on November 4 versus Ottawa (AZ). After playing two home games out of its first three, Cal Maritime will play its next four games on the road and will not host another game until November 22, against Northwest, in the team's final home game of the calendar year.
November's road swing includes games at Life Pacific, an exhibition against Dominican and another set of games versus Pacific Union and Simpson, both played in Redding.
December's schedule included an exhibition at Cal State Monterey Bay plus two games at the HUI Holiday Classic, hosted by Hope International, against Stanton and the tournament hosts.
Even though numerous student-athletes joined the program during the offseason, each one of the seven possesses a wealth of experience as juniors, seniors or graduate students.
Sulivan, a sophomore, is the only underclassman officially on this year's roster when action begins at Pacific Union. Miyai Jones and Avery Musnicki are currently competing for Cal Maritime's women's soccer team and will join the program at a later date, well before the program's January 17 Cal Pac opener at home against Pacific Union,
