Men’s hoops sweeps season series vs. Cal Pac rival

ANGWIN , Calif. – An important week of basketball, to determine seeding at next week's Cal Pac Men's Basketball Championship, started on a positive note for Cal Maritime, thanks to its 86-82 victory over Pacific Union Thursday night at Covered Wagon in Angwin.

With this result, the Keelhaulers swept all three games of the season series and will enter Saturday's 4 p.m. regular season finale vs. Simpson with a home-court advantage for the rest of the season since the league's playoffs will take place inside PEAC Main Gym.

Leading 84-82 with 10 seconds left in the game, Ivan Soto hit a pair of free throws to double his team's lead.

On the ensuing possession, Lawrence Long drew an offensive foul by forcing PUC to set an illegal screen, giving the Keelhaulers possession and cementing the result in the process.

Long led the team with 18 points and 11 rebounds to earn his second double-double of the year.
