VALLEJO, Calif. – Ted at 42 at halftime of Saturday's Cal Pac Conference opener, Cal Maritime outscored Pacific Union by seven throughout the first 10 minutes of the second half, then sealed the victory throughout the following moments of the game, thanks to a 10-3 scoring run, to defeat its conference rival, 92-84.
Chiron Pham led all Keelhaulers with 22 points, recording a career-high 10 at the line thanks to his aggressive play all night long. The sophomore guard hit a pair of threes and ended the night with a career-high seven rebounds.
Saturday's win extended the Keelhaulers' win streak against the Pioneers to 11 games overall and seven at home.
Assisting Cal Maritime throughout the game was its performance in the paint where 32 of its points were earned, 12 more than its opponent, and its plus-12 overall rebound margin.
Of their 42 rebounds, led by Nick Stone with eight, Cal Maritime nearly doubled the Pioneers' offensive rebound total by finishing with 15, compared to PUC's eight.
Men's hoops will end the weekend with a 4 p.m. exhibition matchup against Cal Miramar Sunday afternoon inside PEAC Main Gym before returning to league play Wednesday at Simpson.
