Men's basketball matches best start in program history by beating Bethesda

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Led by Ivan Soto's career-high 19 points, five Keelhaulers finished in double figures in Friday's non-conference game at Salvation Army Red Shield in Anaheim, California, and Cal Maritime is now 4-0 to start the season thanks to its 93-83 victory over the Bethesda Lion Angels.

The 2025-26 and 2017-18 teams are now responsible for the best start to a season; this year's roster will face an opportunity to break this tie and stand alone in the program's records book when its next official game takes place on November 21 versus Corban, hosted by Simpson in Redding, since the team will return to action Wednesday night when it heads to Dominican for a 6 p.m. exhibition matchup.

Friday's result also extends men's basketball's win streak over the Lion Angels to three in as many head-to-head games.

Luka Popovic fell one point shy of matching Soto's point total by finishing with 18, Nick Stone scored 13 points, Lawrence Long ended his night with 12 and Emerson Santos added another 10.

GoKeelhaulers.com will post a box score once received from Bethesda Athletics officials or gameday staff.
