VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime is on a roll after starting the season 3-0 for the first time since the 2017-18 season and want nothing more than to match that team's successful start when it heads to Anaheim for Friday's non-conference game versus the Bethesda Lion Angels.

With a win, this year's team will match the 2017-18 squad's start to the season; that roster started the year 4-0 and won seven of its first eight games. If this year's team is able to return home with a victory, it will face an opportunity to possess the best start in the program's recorded history when it battles Corban on November 21 at Simpson.

Bethesda's start to the season is the exact opposite of Cal Maritime's by dropping its first three official games of the season; it also faced UC Irvine, Utah Tech and Southern Utah in exhibition contests before hosting the Keelhaulers in its home opener.

Friday's game will take place at the Salvation Army Red Shield in Anaheim, California (street address is 1515 W. North St.), and serve as the Lion Angels' lone home game of the month.

This is the first head-to-head matchup since November 11, 2021 — a game the Keelhaulers won by eight on its home court. Other games in this series also took place in Vallejo and ended with Cal Maritime victories: On October 26 to start the 2018-19 season and nearly 11 years ago to Friday's meeting when Cal Maritime took the inaugural game played between the two on November 16, 2014.

When Cal Maritime returns home, it will head to Dominican on Wednesday for the first of three exhibitions taking place this month.
