Three cadet-athletes earn Daktronics NAIA Cross Country Scholar-Athlete distinction
VALLEJO, Calif. — NAIA officials named women's cross country's Safari Frisell and a pair of cadet-athletes from the men's cross country program — Nolan Bronstrup and Michael Lapinski — to its Daktronics Scholar-Athlete teams when the organization unveiled its list of award winners on Thursday.
This is the second time Frisell and Lapinski earned this honor from the NAIA for his academic excellence at the No. 1-rated public regional college in the West and No. 2 top public school, according to U.S. News and World Report.
Bronstrup earned this award for the first time as a Keelhauler.
The complete 2023 list features 491 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at their institution. In order to earn a nomination by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and attend one full year at its institution.
