Santos and Sharifi sweep Cal Pac’s Player of the Week Awards again

VALLEJO, Calif. – For the second time this season, seniors Aysia Santos and Tamana Sharifi swept the Cal Pac's Player of the Week awards when the former earned Offensive honors for the fourth time this year and the latter picked up her third Defensive accolade of the season, thanks to historic performances from the duo in last Tuesday's home non-conference finale.

On a night where she moved to fourth place all-time in program history in scoring, Santos became the first Cal Pac player this season to score 40 or more points in a single game by finishing with 41. She shot 17 of 27 that night with five of those baskets from three.

This came one night after she scored 30 or more points in a game for the first time in her career by ending with that exact number of points.

For the week, the Chula Vista native shot 63.8 percent overall, 42.9 pct. from three and recorded four steals.

Sharifi set a new all-time program record for the most rebounds collected in a single game when she finished with 28, topping the previous record by two. She is now one of two Keelhaulers in school history — Alicia Porter is the other — to collect 20 or more rebounds in a single game.

In addition to setting a new rebound record, Sharifi scored 22 points to become the second Keelhauler in the program's recorded history to finish with more than 20 points and 20 rebounds in a single game.

Of her 39 rebounds collected last week, 22 were on defense.

Sharifi, who hails from Antioch, shot 50 pct. from the floor, recorded 10 assists, six steals and enters the final week of the season with seven double-doubles.

The duo and their teammates will arrive to Pacific Union for Thursday night's Cal Pac Conference, the penultimate league game of the regular season, riding a program-record seven-game win streak. Two days later, the Keelhaulers will end the season at home against Simpson, Saturday's Senior Day matchup will start at 2 p.m.
