Suraya Lloyd nabs first career Player of the Week award

VALLEJO, Calif. – Senior forward Suraya Lloyd earned her first Cal Pac Defensive Player of the Week award when league officials announced their selections for the week of December 15-21 today.

Lloyd played a key role in helping the Keelhaulers earn a split of games played at last week's HIU Holliday Invitational Tournament, one that included a victory versus Stanton by holding the Elks to 40 points — the second-lowest of any opponent this season.

Against Stanton and the tournament host, Hope International, the Vacaville native collected 12 rebounds with eight earned on defense.

Lloyd also averaged 12.5 ppg throughout the two-day tournament.

This is the fifth Player of the Week award earned by the program this season.

Cal Maritime is currently on hiatus for the holidays and will return to action on January 10 at home against UC Santa Cruz.
