Keelhaulers nearly complete comeback at La Sierra
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Trailing by nine at halftime of Sunday's non-conference game inside Alumni Pavilion in Riverside, Cal Maritime battled back to challenge host La Sierra by shooting 43 percent from the floor in the third quarter and a blistering 60 percent throughout the final period. But the Golden Eagles' plus-12 point differential off turnovers proved costly for the Keelhaulers as it became the difference in a game LSU won on its home court, 66-55.
Tamana Sharifi notched her second double-double within 24 hours by leading her team with 12 points and 10 rebounds; as was the case last night at Life Pacific, Aysia Santos scored double figures by finishing with 10 points.
Katelyn Glumace nearly added her name to the list of Keelhauler double-figure scorers by ending her night with nine points on 4-for-9 shooting.
Cal Maritime started its weekend finale at La Sierra on a positive note by entering the second quarter with a one-point advantage. Even though it was outscored by 10 the following period, the team battled back until La Sierra pulled away and led by as many as 12 points that quarter.
All nine players that saw action on Sunday scored.
Cal Maritime connected at the free throw line, on attempts that were few and far between, by connecting on 5 of 7 shots versus La Sierra's 17 of 26 shooting at the stripe.
After the Keelhaulers visit Dominican for Tuesday's 5 p.m. exhibition matchup, their road-heavy November will continue next weekend at Simpson with games against Pacific Union and the host Red Hawks on Friday and Saturday.
