VALLEJO, Calif. – Fans at Bodnar Field were treated to a defensive showcase Sunday afternoon at Bodnar Field when Cal Maritime squared off against Stanton in the inaugural game between the schools as Cal Pac programs.
A nailbiter took place throughout the entire game until a late penalty kick sealed a 2-0 victory for the Elks.
Anthony Mercado, Billy Plampin and Mateo Sanchez recorded shots for the Keelhaulers with Sanchez' shot ending up being the only on frame. Fabian Garcia ended his day with eight saves.
Cal Maritime's current homestand will conclude with its final non-conference matchup of the season when Bethesda visits Vallejo Friday at 7 p.m.
