VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime will head to Marysville this weekend to compete in the first track meet of the season, the Yuba College Last Chance Invitational, hosted by Yuba College.
While the Keelhaulers' men's and women's participants are still being determined as of the date of this release, participating student-athletes will compete in running events only that begin at 11 a.m. Saturday morning.
Events hosted by Yuba College include the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m races, 1,500m, 5k and 10k distance events, 100m, 110m and 400m hurdles. Two relays, the 4x100m and 4x400m are also slated to take place throughout this one-day event.
Even though numerous field events are scheduled — long, triple and high jumps, pole vault, hammer throw, shot put, discus and javelin throws — Cal Maritime will not compete in any of these events.
All jumps and throws competitions will take place in the morning in succession, starting at 10 a.m.; running events start at 9:30 a.m. with the 10k and continue at 11 a.m. with preliminary heats and continue for the rest of the afternoon with the final competition, the men's 4x400 relay, capping the day's activities at 3:30 p.m.
