Offshore sailing secures sixth at Kennedy Cup

Final Results

ANNAPOLILS, Md. –
After racing five times around the course on Saturday at the Robert Crown Sailing Center in Annapolis, Maryland, weak winds allowed only one race throughout the final day of the regatta, which hampered Cal Maritime's effort to climb the leaderboard and improve on its sixth-place result following one day of competition.

Even though the Keelhaulers finished sixth overall, it fell three points shy of tying Maine Maritime for fifth place.

Cal Maritime kept itself in contention from the start of this event by placing fourth in the inaugural race, following by a pair of fifth-place finishes. Even though it was disqualified in Saturday's final race, it still stood within striking distance of the top three since as many as 10 races were slated to take place throughout the weekend.

However, lack of winds neutralized Cal Maritime's charge up the standings as it maintained its overall standing in sixth once the regatta was deemed official after six races.

Next week is a busy one for the program with Nick Mueller competing in the National Singlehanded Open Championship in Norfolk, Virginia, in addition to his teammates' participation at the West Coast Championship in San Diego.
