VALLEJO, Calif. –
A grueling portion of Cal Maritime's schedule, a block of competition that includes five regattas in as many weeks, ends this weekend in Morro Bay when it competed in the Mustang Open, hosted by Cal Poly.

Morro Bay has treated the Keelhaulers well in recent years since this is the site of Cal Poly's other home regatta, the Mustang Open Team Race — a regatta CSUM won in each of the last two years.

Sailing will seek similar results when it returns to Central California this weekend when it faces a field that includes Arizona State, Cal, the host school, Cal State Channel Islands, Cal State Monterey Bay, Nevada, San Diego State, Santa Clara, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, and UCLA.

Racing will begin at 11 a.m. each day with no race starting after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Sailing out of the Morro Bay Yacht Club, the intended racing area is the south basin of Morro Bay with rotations held off the public dock.

The racing location is weather and tide permitting, and will use a low point scoring system in accordance to ICSA Procedural Rules.

When student-athletes return to Vallejo, the program will take a week off before the offshore team heads to San Pedro for the Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup. Dinghy sailors will return to the water on March 22 at the PCCSC South Designate, hosted by USC at the US Sailing Center in Long Beach.
