VALLEJO, Calif. –
After securing top-five and top-10 results at last week's Jeff Simon Memorial Regatta, Cal Maritime will head to Morro Bay, California, for the second of five regattas (in as many weeks) to compete in the Mustang Open Team Race.

Cal Maritime will head to Central California with a target on its back, and the student-athletes know it, since the Keelhaulers won last year's regatta with a perfect head-to-head record by defeating UCLA, USC, Cal Poly and UC Santa Cruz that weekend.

In addition to the Keelhaulers, Cal Poly, UC Santa Cruz, UCLA return for this year's competition; joining them are Arizona State, Cal, and San Diego State.

Participants will sail FJs with first warning taking place on Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. A single round-robin will take place between participating teams with sail-offs used to eliminate any ties.

Regatta officials will use low point scoring in accordance with ICSA Procedural Rules.

This is Cal Maritime's first of two visits to Morro Bay this season as it will return for the Mustang Open, also hosted by Cal Poly, on February 22 and 23. That is the last of five dinghy regattas in a row as the program will take a week off before offshore student-athletes head to San Pedro for the annual Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup.
