Nick Mueller earns coveted spot at 2024 Fall National Open Singlehanded Championship

VALLEJO, Calif. – Sophomore Nick Mueller received one of 12 prestigious at-large bids available for sailors across the nation, joining a list of six individuals who earned automatic entry by virtue of winning respective conference postseason regattas, to compete at next month's National Open Singlehanded Championship.

St. Petersburg Yacht Club in St. Petersburg, Florida, will host this national championship event November 9 and 10; Mueller is the first student-athlete in the program's recorded history to compete at this event.

Mueller is the only sailor outside the Eastern Time Zone to receive an at-large invitation.

"This is one special individual," said head coach Kerry Deaver. "He enjoyed a weekend full of phenomenal races at the PCCSC's (Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference) Singlehanded Championship and is truly one of the best sailors in the country."
