Keelhaulers head to The City for Friday’s SF State Invite

VALLEJO, Calif. – Cal Maritime will return to racing Friday afternoon when both cross country teams head to Golden Gate Park to participate in the annual SF State Invite, hosted by San Francisco State.

The women will cover a 6k distance at Speedway Meadow with the men slated to run an 8k distance afterwards. This is the same route used for the 2009 NCAA Division II West Region Championship.

Runners will start and finish in Speedway Meadow: The first 1.85 kilometers consists of a loop around the polo field, through the woods and back to the meadow.

Each course will continue with 2-kilometer loops through Speedway Meadow, Lindley Meadow and the surrounding dirt trails. On the last lap, runners will head back down Speedway for the final 400 meters.

From start-to-finish, the course consists of rolling terrain along grass fields and dirt trails; optimal running weather is forecasted for this meet.

Top teams and individuals for each race will receive awards in a ceremony that will commence at 5:15 p.m. 

This is the first appearance for both programs, in its recorded history, at the SF State Invite and the first of two events scheduled in as many weeks for the Keelhaulers.

Once everyone returns to campus, preparations will begin for the Bronco Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara at Baylands Park (Sunnyvale, California), on October 14.
