VALLEJO, Calif. – Mason Sylvester provided the highlight of the tournament for Cal Maritime on Tuesday when he recorded an eagle on the seventh hole, a par 4 that he finished in two shots — one of three holes that afternoon that he finished under par — en route to a 75, the second-lowest one-round result among the five Keelhaulers who competed at the Cal Pac / Frontier Men's golf Championship.
Sylvester was responsible for his team's lowest round when he finished with a 1-over 73 on Monday, the first of three 18-hole rounds that comprised this postseason event.
The freshman standout finished 19th among all individual competitors, two strokes ahead of his teammate, Evan Molina, who truly enjoyed a consisted performance throughout all three days by shooting 79 all three rounds to finish in 20th place.
As a team, Cal Maritime ended its final tournament of the season seventh overall, six shots behind a Soka roster that edged the Keelhaulers by finishing the final round in eight fewer stokes by comparison.
Rocky Mountain College captured both automatic bids for this year's NAIA Men's Golf National Championship by winning the event over Simpson by 21 shots. Kristjan Burkelca claimed the individual crown by six shots over Simpson's Trey Alwert.
