VALLEJO, Calif. –
In its first tournament of the spring season, Cal Maritime finished seventh at the Sea Beggar Invitational, hosted by Providence Christian at the Angeles National Golf Club in Sunland, California.

Tyler Denidiu provided CSUM's highlight on the first day of competition by recording the team's first birdie of the tournament, finishing the Par 3, 177-yard third hole with a phenomenal tee shot that set up his second, and final shot on that hole.

In Wednesday's action, Zachary Reis recorded his first birdie of the event on the first hole of the back nine, a Par 4, 429-yard hole to begin that set of nine holes on a positive note.

Jack Buffini enjoyed a strong second round be recording three birdies on the front nine — holes 2, 4 and 5 — and another on 13. Of those results, two birdies were earned on Par 4s with the others recorded on Par 5s.

Buffini led the Keelhaulers' contingent by finishing 36th with a plus-31 (175) overall score.

Off for the next few weeks, women's golf will return to action March 24 at the Simpson University Invite, hosted by Cal Pac institution Simpson at Riverview Country Club in Redding.
