VALLEJO, Calif. –
For the second time within the last three weeks, Cal Maritime will visit the Sacramento State Aquatic Center for a crew regatta. Last time, the Keelhaulers enjoyed a day filled with second place and top-three results at the President's Cup; for this weekend's action, CSUM will compete in the biggest rowing regatta of the year — the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship.

Cal Maritime fans can access results from both days by clicking here; a free live stream of races taking place each day is also available.

Admission for this weekend's championship is $10 per day, the Aquatic Center takes cash only for entrance. Parking is available on site for $10 per vehicle.

Please note that the SSAC does not allow private shade tents along the finish line or boat storage area.

The WIRA Championship is the last of a string of spring regattas that saw the  Keelhaulers enjoy remarkable improvement with each competition. Even though the team's spring season did not start until March, competition against Cal's lightweights and at Chico State helped prep a team for its late-season push.

In last month's Blue Heron Humboldt Invitational, Cal Maritime celebrated a first-place finish in the Mixed 2x and a pair of seconds in the Men's Varsity 2x and Men's Novice 4+.

Two weeks ago, the Keelhaulers' Novice 8, a team comprised by  Colby AllenEthan AzevedoJohnny FergusonNathan NakadateMax SouthworthTy Simpson-Kane (coxswain). William SouzaJoshua Thomas and Collin Wojahn missed out on first place by only one second.

Later that day, Southworth and Morgan Vincent Kiehn captured third in the Mixed 2x, followed by another pair of second-place results by Azevedo, Ferguson, Thomas, Simpson-Kane (cox) and Souza in the Men's 4+ and the team of Southworth and Wojahn in the Men's 2x.
